Nicole Blue danced at the Ed Smith School Black History Month Program this morning. The program also included a student-run question and answer session with SCSD Superintendent Sharon Contreras and Assemblyman Sam Roberts.
Crossfire: Assemblyman Sam Roberts remained cool while he was grilled by students about everything from lawmaking to martial arts.
Syracuse City School District Superintendent Sharon Contreras talked with the students about being inspired by her parents, her multi-ethnic heritage, and her continued commitment to child advocacy.

Artist Yui Kugimiya discussed her process and several of her works, including Cat Brushing Teeth, last night at the Everson Museum of Art.
This is the second artist talk we’ve seen for the UVP series. We look forward to the technological upgrades that will make it possible to watch films and artist talks while riding the Connective Corridor buses (not just from the window, but projected inside maybe) since gathering in the Everson Plaza is not always favorable in February.

Syracuse Stage: Opening Night
We’ve heard great reviews and word-of-mouth praise for “The Whipping Man.” The play was directed by Timothy Bond and written by Matthew Lopez. Here’s an interview Bond did with Kenny Dees last week.
Following Friday night’s performance Lemon Elefant, everyone’s favorite go to band for the Connective Corridor, played a gig in the Syracuse Stage lobby.

Duke & The Cuse: Synergy
February 3rd, 2014After a great weekend of sports, particularly for Syracuse, we forget that before there was a rivalry between SU & Duke, there was collaboration. Coach Boeheim successfully worked with Coach K during the Olympics, and ESPN commentators such as Jay Bilas (Duke grad) worked with SU grads.
Bilas, speaking here during a forum at SU’s Newhouse School, takes time to indirectly show some love to SU’s journalism program.
