The Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) kicked off Black History Month a few hours early by introducing Syracuse to the soul/boho/acoustic duo Che’Zee last night. The group is made up of husband-wife team Xeno and Chenae, who have their roots in the ATL underground music scene. This show was part of CFAC’s Journey Through Music of the African Diaspora series (with collaboration from WAER-FM 88).
83 & Company, Green Street’s Mini Cheesecake Factory
From the outside, the renovations done at 115 Green Street are impressive. Inside there are some great things going on as well. We recently visited the property, which is home to 83 & Company (and the $7 lunch special). The food was simple, but good. The bulk of the business seems geared toward the Three C’s: Cakes, Cupcakes and Cheesecake.
The mini cheesecakes (included with lunch) are the perfect afternoon sugar fix.
Syracuse shows off another facet of readiness this evening as the 168 Centro Bus (East Fayette/Erie-Shoppingtown) passes Forman Avenue along the Connective Corridor--four days before the big game.
2014 Producer of the Year Pharrell Williams played SUs Block Party in 2010
Some of our favorite producers are (in no particular order) Kashif,Stevie Wonder, Sly & Robbie, The Bomb Squad, Jam & Lewis, Gamble & Huff, as well as Leon Sylvers, Rick Rubin and Syracuse’s Seth Marcel. It comes to no surprise to us that Pharrell Williams won a handful of Grammy Awards last night, including Producer of the Year. Check out his work ethic, which was chronicled in this Fast Company article a few months ago. Also shout out to Gregory Porter, who won a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
