SU defender Miles Robinson was voted to the All-South Region first team. He is pictured here during game versus North Carolina in November. The sophomore is also a semifinalist for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy, which is the highest individual honor in collegiate soccer. He was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) defensive player of the year.

“The goal is soccer. Its rarity is its magic.”
The Numbers Game
Chris Anderson & David Sally

UNC midfielder Jeremy Kelly scored the game’s lone goal with 13:46 remaining in the first half.
Maybe it was the snow, cold and slick turf; or maybe it was moving the contest to Onondaga Hill, but one thing is certain: Carolina is becoming a stumbling block for Syracuse University sports fans. In March, the men’s basketball team fell short in the NCAA semi finals to the University of North Carolina (UNC), and today , with ACC bragging rights and a shot at the Soccer Cup Final Four at stake, the Tarheels used a physical defense and clock management to outlast the maximum effort of the Orangemen at Onondaga Community College’s David W. Murphy Field. The final score was 1-0.
The two teams battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie in September.
UNC advances to face Providence.

An SU fan shows his disapproval at one of the many off sides calls during the second half.

Duke won the NCAA title in men’s basketball earlier this week in Indianapolis. For SU fans who are still sore that the Orange didn’t participate in this year’s Big Dance, let us remind you of the school’s academic reputation. During last night’s 8th Annual Fashion & Beauty Communications Milestone show, the Newhouse School fielded a formidable, yet fashionable team of world-class journalism professors.
Take that Duke.

There are numerous benefits about Syracuse joining the ACC: the history, the tradition, the rivalry, and of course, the fans. Today at the NCAA East Regional Final open practice sessions, we had the pleasure of meeting a gracious lady known as the CSPAN Mom. Despite her recent celebrity status and invitation to the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, on this day inside the Carrier Dome, safe from the rain, Joy Woodhouse was just another fan who traveled here to have her team’s back.
She said she hoping for another miraculous run by N.C. State.
Mrs. Woodhouse enjoy your stay.

After a great weekend of sports, particularly for Syracuse, we forget that before there was a rivalry between SU & Duke, there was collaboration. Coach Boeheim successfully worked with Coach K during the Olympics, and ESPN commentators such as Jay Bilas (Duke grad) worked with SU grads.
Bilas, speaking here during a forum at SU’s Newhouse School, takes time to indirectly show some love to SU’s journalism program.

Radio personality George Kilpatrick and PR consultant Alisa Parmenter meet at Destiny USA’s Canyon looking their best (following the fashion show).
The city is amped-up for the first “big time” ACC game (SU plays North Carolina tomorrow) and the mall was buzzing a Dick Vitale sightings. Great match-ups may just be a cure to the winter blues.
ECG Promotions even staged a fashion show at DestiNY’s Canyon tonight.
Let’s play a big time school every weekend…or find a way to move the mall closer to campus. Wait, isn’t this another reason to re-start OnTrack service?
