Social Media Breakfast Syracuse #10 Panel: Kimberley McCoy, Rachel Boucher, Matthew De Bellas and Sarah Massett (with moderator Patrick Finlon, left).

This kind of collaboration is encouraging.

We finally got to attend a Social Media Breakfast here in town. The group had its latest meeting at Syracuse Stage on Thursday, and the focus was how arts organizations engage online.  Participants included representatives from The Red House, The Everson Museum, CNY Arts and Art Rage.

The discussion ranged from generating unique content and boosting awareness to using “gamification” (rewards) and data collection methods to gain new followers/supporters.

What was most impressive is that you didn’t have to be a savvy social media manager or represent an art venue to pick up pearls of wisdom from this conversation.   Quick, power-packed, yet very filling, it was like breakfast for your head.

“Creating When We Were Wanderers required actors to excavate and mine their personal experiences…” Ryan Johnson-Travis, Director
Cocoran, Obeng and Jordan: SU stduents took the stage to discuss race and gender at CFAC tonight.

Corcoran, Obeng and Jordan: Three of the seven ladies who took the stage to discuss race and gender at CFAC tonight.

Bravo to director and actor Ryan Johnson-Travis.  The theater man continues to write, direct and produce some creative stage work along the Connective Corridor Arts District.  His latest conception, “When We Were Wanderers” closed tonight to a packed house at the Community Folk Art Center’s Black Box Theater. The play touched on a plethora of emotions, and honestly explored race and gender from a female perspective.

Later this weekend brothers will grace the stage at CFAC for the CNY Mocha Men production by Me’Shae Brooks Rolling. The Mocha Men event will focus on financial literacy.

Shake Shack, Washington, DC

Washington, buy viagra DC

We saw a poll this morning online and were not surprised that data showed Chick Fil-A is the most desired fast food franchise here in Central New York.  Another one of our favorites is Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack.  Shake Shack is not a franchise, but would be a great addition to Armory Square or the Connective Corridor.

Judge of Style

Judge of Style

This is a post about canines and couture. After attending the Leatherstocking Cluster Fall Dog Show on Friday, we were not only impressed by the breeds and the training, but also by the style exhibited by the breeders and owners. Most participants were impeccably attired in designer gear, and some looked ready for runways themselves. From our conversations with judges and others, this chic fashion sense has always been a part of these shows. Maybe if the breeders don’t look good, the dogs won’t look (so) good.

Jen from Niagara Falls with her dog Moe (competing in the Toy Group)

Moe was the Best in Show winner at Ring 1 at the NYS Fairgrounds on Friday.

We have to thank Jen from Niagara Falls, who talked to us about the rules and regulations for dog show competitions. Also Jan Paulk gave us some insight into what the judges look for during the contests. Moe (pictured above) was born in Russia and will celebrate his fourth birthday on December 12, 2013 (not pictured, his son Pickles).

Jen and Moe have a conversation with Judge Jan Paulk

Moe is examined by AKC Judge Jan Paulk.

Millwood on the attack from 2003 during a Salty Dogs game at Liverpool Stadium.

Millwood on the attack (from 2003) during a Salty Dogs game at Liverpool Stadium.

The Syracuse Silver Knights announced today that former Syracuse Salty Dog and Baltimore Blast player and champion Machel Millwood will be joining their squad, and re-uniting with former teammate and now coach Tommy Tanner. Millwood was a crowd favorite when he kicked off his pro career with the Salty Dogs a decade ago. He is best remembered for his hustle and heavy footed, thunderous shots on goal.

Hopefully, the younger players on the squad will glean from Millwood’s championship experience.
