Ralph Lalama played January JAZZfest in the Mohegan Manor Ballroom. He was later joined by vocalist Nancy Kelly.
Another January JAZZfest is in the books and it was a great show. Here are a few photographs from yesterday afternoon’s action.
The sounds of the Donna Alford Jass Band kept the Green Room dance floor packed.
WAER-FM 88’s Eric Cohen and vocalist Nancy Kelly relaxed and listened to the Jazz Police jam session.

Jeff Stockam, have horn, will travel
Improvisation is the name of the game in Jazz. We love to see the guest vocalists at the Sitrus Lounge series, but on Friday Jeff Stockham was pulled out of the crowd and joined the jam session.

Rep. John Katko (R) held a local swearing-in ceremony at Syracuse Stage yesterday. He decided to have a local ceremony because his parents were unable to make the trip to Washington earlier this month, viagra according to his spokesman. Judge Norman Mordue administered the oath. Rep. Katko’s choice of venue shows the increasing influence for the Corridor area, which unites the crossroads of I81, Downtown and the Ed/Med complex. His committee assignments are Homeland Security and Transportation Infrastructure.

Rev. Bryan N. Massingale
Rev. Bryan N. Massingale of Marquette University spoke at Le Moyne College’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation earlier this week. During his lecture, titled “A View from the Mountaintop,” he talked about racism as a soul sickness and how King’s fiery rhetoric still rings relevant today, especially as it relates to social justice.
Where do we go from here? Rev. Massingale teaches a little history and how it relates to our current climate.

ESPN announcer and SU grad (’84) Sean McDonough spoke at Newhouse School of Communications on Friday.
Veteran sports journalist Sean McDonough has covered everything from the Olympics and The Masters to the World Series. On Friday, he advised SU students to get as much practical experience as they could on the Hill and early in their careers. And although he graduated 30 years ago, he still finds himself rooting for SU when they are televised (but not when he’s doing play-by of course).
McDonough called today’s SU v. Miami game with Kara Lawson.
