Brother Can You Spare a Dime-a look at the factory age
Last night was the 6th Annual Milestone Fashion Show at the Newhouse School of Public Communications. The major organizing principle during the show was affordable fashion and thrift wear. The program (a collaboration between Newhouse and VPA) featured six sections divided into a 9 to 5/Work to Play theme.
Kudos to the students, who showed that fashion can be a barometer for the times and still be creative.

Author, educator, photographer and performance artist Josefina Baez came to the Point of Contact Gallery on East Genesee Street on Thursday. She read from her acclaimed collection Dominicanish (with a prologue written by SU professor Silvio Torres-Saillant). The reading alternated between Spanish and English and featured themes such as cultural identity and relationships. I don’t wait to be inspired, I just live, Baez told one of the students.

Syracuse University Men’s Basketball–2013 Final Four
Congratulations to the Syracuse University Men’s Basketball Team for winning their way to the 2013 Final Four. The program seems to make the trip every decade (since the 1970s).
