MG3 (aka Gardiner Dekaney and Gorman) provided the perfect Turkey Day detox at the Sitrus Lounge on Friday evening. According to CNY Jazz's Larry Luttinger, the Sitrus series will continue the post Thanksgiving shows each year.

MG3 (aka Gardiner, Dekaney and Gorman) provided the perfect Turkey Day detox at the Sitrus Lounge on Friday evening.  CNY Jazz’s Larry Luttinger said he hopes to continue the post Thanksgiving segment annually. Things started slow, but by the end of the first set the festive crowd had grown significantly and seemed to revel in the eclectic mix of standards and original compositions.

The house band at Phoebe’s Garden Cafe (Josh Dekaney, Max McKee and Mark Nanni) welcomed SU Junior Stephanie Mata (from Rome, NY) to the Thursday night party.  Their diverse jam session was well attended by students and some of the post theater crowd from Syracuse Stage. The band plays each Thursday and their next scheduled guest is Tim Herron.

Lemon Elefant features a new generation of jazz cats putting in work in-and-around Syracuse.  The band is headed by Bill Horrace and Dave Solazzo, who have been fixtures for the past year or so at Connective Corridor music spots (teaming up with various musicians from the area). Last Friday Lemon Elefant was the closing act for Sitrus on the Hill, where they played their original cuts, as well as some pop tunes.
