NEJWF 2015

Northeast Jazz & Wine Festival 2015.  Overall it was three days of Syracuse-style fun.

We have to give credit where credit is due.

Larry Luttinger and the Northeast Jazz & Wine Festival staff did a great job this year. Not only did they extend the festival a third day (to add Blues), but also literally weathered a thunderstorm, followed by sticky humidity, one cancelled performance, and another headliner who showed up injured.

But of course, the show must go on.

Overall we heard some great music and saw some memorable performances, including a tribute to Jeff Houston and fantastic Friday dance party with Atlas.

Hopefully, the Jazz in the City series that they produce in August won’t bring so many surprises.

John Mooney

New Orleans guitarist John Mooney was a great addition for the Sunday Blues showcase.

Buckwheat Zydeco on Percussion

Buckwheat on Percussion: who knew the brother was unce, tyce, and fee times a beast not just on the accordion, but also on the Hammond.

Here’s the answer to that age old question: who shot Buckwheat?Buckwheat Zydeco, that is. We did. ¬†He is an incredible performer and showed out for a fantastic Syracuse show (with a few encores). Buckwheat (aka Stanley Dural Jr) was given a proclamation by Frank Malfitano last night which made Friday, July 17, 2015 Buckwheat Zydeco Day.

The band moves on to Canada for a few shows next week.
