The Melissa Gardiner Group: Gardiner on trombone and vocals, Byron Cage on drums, Will Gorman on keys, and August Cook on tenor sax, took Christmas music deep into the shed during the inaugural performance for the Tokyo-Seoul music series Saturday night. They added some spice to standards to the delight of a packed dining room that featured musicians, educators and jazz fans.

Guest vocalists for the kick-off included the sassy duo, Angky & Mary Rose, and the sophisticated/sentimental sounds of Gabrielle Gorman (a Nancy Kelly protégé)

Hoop star Breanna Stewart (from her CNS days)

She’s been called the Kevin Durant of women’s game (although Durant doesn’t have her college resume), but maybe the best way describe Breanna Stewart is passion meets talent. Before it’s said and done she will probably be the most decorated baller from this area (currently she’s a close second to Dolph Schayes).

We wonder who will design her signature shoe once she goes pro?

Street artist making a crow sculpture out of available snow at CENTRO stop (Washington Street).

When life gives you lemons, they say make lemonade; when life gives us snow, maybe we should just make a snowman (or ice sculpture).

We saw this gentleman waiting for the Centro Bus on Saturday. In the 10 minutes before his bus came he took inspiration from the nearby gargoyles and architecture on Washington Street, along with the invasion of crows he notices in the city and came up with a pretty powerful piece of pedestrian art.
