Designer Michelle DaRin walks the runway.

9-year old RJ (top) got won over the audience during his walk on the runway and Every Day Bow Ties designer/owner Geraldo De-Souza was ready to give suggestions on how to step up your neck wear game on opening night.

Here in Central New York, designers come in all sizes.

Jeff Houston on stage at Juneteenth.
The local music scene is like a fraternity: so many good folks jamming, sharing and looking out for one another.
We were sad to hear about Jeff Houston’s passing. We caught him many times around Syracuse, but most recently at the Community Folk Art Center’s Women in Music series.
A tribute will take place at Dolce Vita where Houston usually played on Wednesday nights.

International Flavor
Shout out to the guys at Lombardi’s Imports on Butternut St., one of our favorite small food shops, for helping us pick out a gift that told a good story.

Writer, comedian, producer Jenny Yang goes in for laughs during a show at HBC Gifford Auditorium on Wednesday.
April Fools may be for amateurs, but Jenny Yang is a top flight pro when it comes to the comedy game. She visited Syracuse and put on a hilarious show that touched on topics such as “Fear of Dating White Guys,” “Yellow Fever,” “Decor/Asians,” Real Babies v. Food Babies” and her left swipe tendencies on Tinder. Yang is currently on the road producing the Dis/Orient/ed Tour, and she was featured in the 2013 documentary Why We Laugh: Funny Women. To us the only down side of her show was that it conflicted with an appearance on campus by Taraji P. Henson.
We hope Yang will return to do a few nights at the Funny Bone when her tour returns to the East Coast.

Yang has a show tonight at Swarthmore College (her alma mater)
