2 Fat 2 Fly

On the Wings of Love: Joey Thompson and Corey Simmons, along with Rome Dickerson (not pictured), illustrated how to do business in this mobile economy with true hospitality, and in the process, served us the best wings in the country.

As part of our week well-traveled, we want to give a shout out to the Hunter and Baker families. Because of their invite, we got to check out the wonderful, finger-licking, stuffed wings from 2 Fat 2 Fly on Tuesday.  Careful Buffalo, if these guys make it north of the Mason-Dixon, your days (for wing dominance) are numbered.

Our favorite was Chicken & Waffles.

Neal Evans played at the Westcott Theater with Soulive in 2009.

We caught Soulive for the first time almost a decade ago. Their brand of funk is maybe the closest thing we’ve heard to the Sound of Minneapolis (The Time, The Revolution, Flyte Tyme Productions).

Neal Evans (above) and his brother are from Buffalo, where July 9th is considered Soulive Day.

In addition to the music, Evans also scores films (most recently “The Boomer List” by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders).

Barry Muskat, developer from Buffalo

Barry Muskat, find developer from Buffalo, talked about 709 East Genesee Street on Thursday.

On one hand developer Barry Muskat sounds like a comedian (listen to sound clip below); on the other hand, he is definitely an optimist. His company has taken over 709 East Genesee Street, brought in United Uniform as an anchor tenant, and he’s not done yet.

The property is located across from Forman Park, between the Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Parkview Hotel.

During the press conference to announce the winners of the Connective Corridor facade grant winners (round 2), Muskat hilariously walked business owners, officials and the press through his firm’s plans.

He praised officials from the Connective Corridor and local businesses for changing what he called the “psychological infrastructure” of the neighborhood.

North Face of 709: As Muskat gave his comments at the press conference the work continued on the United Uniform commercial space, which is schedule to open on Monday.

All jokes aside, let’s hope Muskat’s enthusiasm is infectious.
New Neighbors: Muskrat met briefly with Woodbine Group Director of Sales/Hospitality Christine Tucciarone at the Parkview.
