Lutz from way downtown in the third quarter.
Christian Brothers Academy came up with two wins at the Peppino’s Invitational. They defeated Liverpool last night 60-56 on the strength of Charles Pride’s double double (15 and 10) and Mark Lutz’s 23, including two key three pointers in the second half. We look forward to the CBA Bishop Ludden match up (aka the city’s Holy War) on January 16.

Charles Pride took flight in the third quarter.

The sharp shooter

After a sluggish first quarter in the game versus Liverpool, CBA (and their motion offense) looked to be in mid-season form.

The final score was 73-59, including a 29-point second quarter for SAS.

Syracuse Academy of Science (SAS) Coach Onur Gokce tries to calm a player after a technical foul call in the first half of last night’s game versus ITC.
Syracuse Academy of Science (SAS) defeated Institute of Technology Syracuse Central (ITC) last night in a Sectionals match up played at the Lab (Park Street). ITC raced out to a big lead in the first quarter, but SAS, with big-time support from their home crowd, made a furious comeback and pulled away in the third quarter. The final score was 73-59.

By the fourth quarter the game was out of reach and Coach Gokce went down the bench searching for high fives from his players.

Westhill Forward Tyler Reynolds goes for two of his game-high 23 points.
There was a lot of hype for the Westhill v. CBA matchup last night, but it was Westhill who quickly seized control and went up by double digits in the first quarter. Jordan Roland and Tyler Reynolds led the Westhill attack with 16 and 23 respectively. Westhill won 65-51.
CBA was led by Dan Damico with 15 and there were some timely buckets by Monte Stroman and Charles Pride, but Westhill essentially dominated this Section III matchup from the opening tip.

CBA guard Monte Stroman hit three-three pointers but tried to take the ball to the bucket more in the second half.

Jordan Roland finished with 16.
