Outside in the Rain: The Blacklites
After a weather-related cancellation last week, the Jazz in the City program kicked off today, accompanied by showers. But the Blacklites, veteran showmen of Syracuse music scene, put enough funk back into the atmosphere to stop the rain.
After their first set, the skies broke for a Southside party led by the KC Cuse Line Dance group.

The Great Carsoni (right) finds a dance partner to follow his groove.
The next Jazz in the City concert is scheduled for Thursday on the Westside.

KC Cuse Line Dance keeps the party going.

“There’s a lot that’s been said and written about the decline of older Upstate communities…But like old houses, caring for them is clearly a labor of love.”
Linda Dickerson Hartsock (On Main Street)
This is part one of our conversation with the Connective Corridor’s Linda Dickerson Hartsock. Her work has blended revitalization with historic preservation.
Thanks to Bill Horrace and his band for the intro and credit tunes, which were recorded live on Centro’s Connective Corridor Bus (443).

We’re not sure if there’s a Forman Park Association, but today’s clean up, sponsored by the Syracuse and Central New York Police Retirees Association, would be a great start.
Forman Park, which is bounded on the north by the Crowne Plaza and Parkview Hotels, also contains the Policeman’s Memorial. Forman was re-dedicated last year with a formal ceremony. The park is one of the anchors of the Connective Corridor (phase two).
