Joey Tavernese scored the final goal of the year for the Silver Knights by beating the goal keeper and another defender in the second period of last night's game. The Silver Knight took a 3-2 lead on this goal, but  ended up losing the game 6-3.

The Syracuse Silver Knights provided some thrills and a holiday victory for fans on Friday night. The club came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat Harrisburg 6-4. The game-tying goal by Moises Gonzalez is shown in the clip above.

He was a legend at SU and called the best goal keeper of the 2015 draft. He is a big time star in Toronto, but hails from Baldwinsville. Alex Bono returned to Syracuse on Friday to be honored at halftime of the Silver Knights v. Harrisburg Heat game. In this clip he compares the college game to the pros and discusses a favorite memory of the season.

Miles Ahead

SU defender Miles Robinson was voted to the All-South Region first team. He is pictured here during game versus North Carolina in November. The sophomore is also a semifinalist for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy, which is the highest individual honor in collegiate soccer. He was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) defensive player of the year.

Choir of the Liverpool School District

One of the great benefits of having a local pro sports franchise in your city is being exposed to lots of local talent. A choir from the Liverpool School District, including middle school student Geoffrey Race (center) and his sister Sophia, sang the National Anthem at last night’s Silver Knights game at the Onondaga County War Memorial. We’dĀ also love to see a kinetic marching band take the field for a future home game.

The Syracuse Silver Knights had better numbers in several categories, but still fell to Cedar Rapids last night. The final score was 6-5. The Knights had 15 shots on goal, including a bullet by Antonio Manful in the first quarter.

Goals turned into a bromance: Manfut’s mates showed some love following his goal.

On Friday night Allen Laventure spoke about the crash that killed members of a Chapeconese soccer team at the Onondaga County War Memorial.

In a very class move, Allen Laventure, VP of Sales for the Syracuse Silver Knights, led the crowd in a moment of silent to recognize members of a Brazilian soccer team who were killed during a plane crash in Columbia earlier this week. He mentioned that the tragedy affects the sport from the pro ranks to the recreation leagues.
