Will Holton made a return to the Salt City and played the initial Jazz in the City show tonight with The Blacklites. This guy gives off style from all angles.

This year’s Jazz in the City series has expanded to five shows this summer and the August 24th edition features King Solomon Hicks and the Bells of Harmony. The show will be held at Byrne Dairy on Cortland Avenue. Bells lead singer Charles Cannon always fits the role of the dapper lead man.

Ioana Vintu and Nuf Said were a great fit for the back yard-like setting at Le Moyne Plaza last night. Their return to the Cuse on a cool September evening also provided a fitting diminuendo for the outdoor jazz season.

What a pleasant surprise. This guy played guitar like Bobby Womack, dressed like a real Dapper Don, has a movie star name, and crooned like the late Spencer Harrison. Nick Colionne was the perfect choice for Jazz in the City’s North Salina location in so many ways.

Here’s a sample from a tune played during the Jazz in the City (Westside) show on Thursday, featuring Elan Trotman and Brian Simpson. Their put together band included Rochester musicians Corey Owens (drums) and Carlton Wilcox (bass). They are featured on the clip.
Their synergy was excellent and the overflowing crowd on Park Street showed them much love.
We saw Wilcox when he played here with Frank McComb, and Owens when he played with Danielle Ponder.

Elan Trotman went down on bended knee in his return to Syracuse yesterday for the Jazz in the City series. He shared the stage with keyboardist Brian Simpson, as well as Rochester musicians Corey Owes and Carlton Wilcox. The show shut down a portion of Park Avenue and overflowed the parking lot of Strada Mia 313.
WAER media personality Eric Cohen primed the crowd for the return of Elan Trotman.
