Qualities to qualify

Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

Entrepreneur and Rev. A.R. Bernard of Brooklyn visited Syracuse over the weekend and pointed out these four qualities that make a good leader:

  1. Maturity
  2. Decisiveness
  3. Consistency
  4. Strength

Pastor Bernard, who was speaking at Abundant Life Christian Center, said maturity begins with the acceptance of responsibility, not with age, and that our leaders need to make decisions quickly and confidently (guided by values and principles). He also said leaders must avoid distractions.

And strength, he added, is mostly demonstrated in kindness.

Donna Alford and Reggie Seigler led the Donna Alford JaSS band brought some brand new funk to the Sitrus Lounge on Friday night.

Fresh off their headline gig at Jazz in the City, The Donna Alford JaSSBand (featuring the husband/wife team of Reggie Siegler and Donna Alford) came to The Sitrus Lounge Friday and unleashed a brand new funk.  One of the highlights of their set was a Michael Jackson medley, which carefully blended “Rock with You” and “Love Never Felt So Good.”  The MJ set was so smooth we expected to see a hologram appear on stage.

Unfortunately, this was their only appearance at the Sitrus showcase this season.
