Big Sean is using his celebrity to make a difference.

We heard that rapper Big Sean recently hooked up with SU alum and NBA Hall of Fame player Dave Bing to inspire young black men in Detroit. The Sean Anderson Foundation and Bing partnered with the Ford Motor Company for this “Men of Courage” initiative.

Big Sean was the headliner for this year’s Juice Jam Festival at Syracuse University.

Kim “on the drums”

Former Pratt students Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino, better known as Harvest Records’ Matt and Kim, added legions of fans to their scream team yesterday during the Syracuse Juice Jam Festival. This was our first time seeing the group in action. We were pleasantly surprised.

Matt’s melodies and Kim’s ferocious beats provided kinetic heat during the outdoor performance and definitely warmed the stage for headliner Big Sean.

Next week the duo will travel to Chicago; next month they will play the UK (including a date at Wembley Arena with Fall Out Boy).

CNY's Tamar would be the perfect choice to sing the National Anthem at a Syracuse v Georgetown or Syracuse v. Duke game.

CNY’s Tamar would be the perfect choice to sing the National Anthem at a Syracuse v. Georgetown or Syracuse v. Duke game basketball game in the future. We saw her sing the chill bumps out of people during an impromptu gig at the Pan African Village last week. Her vocal power would be the perfect lead in for a memorable big-time athletic contest. The team won’t play either in the coming season, thumb but maybe she can sing for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Game (Dec. 5).
