Monday, November 4th, 2013Central New Yorker’s are fearless.
Who else could endure and enjoy an outdoor festival and a zip line during moderate winds and temperatures in the high-30s? Despite the chilly weather however, the attendance at inaugural the Zip Line Fest and Food Truck Rodeo was steady and strong. Students, business owners from the neighborhood, elected officials, and even families from other states (today was the last day of Parent’s Weekend at SU) filled Forman Park, and the crowds spilled onto East Genesee street on Sunday.
The energy the event created rivaled Armory Square, and maybe even more well-known public spaces such as Byrant Park, Rittenhouse Square, or Dupont Circle.
What a lively and unique way to kick off Phase two of the Connective Corridor construction project.

The city gave a farewell flash mob for Nancy Cantor today at three locations: The Warehouse, City Hall, and Syracuse Stage.
If there was one word that can describe her tenure it was engage. Cantor engaged the alumni, students, sports fans, the government, the environmentalists, urbanites, artists, and several of our neighborhoods.
Most important, Cantor engaged our attention. Her leadership showed us more was possible.

Here are some scenes from this morning’s beautification. We witnessed school-aged kids, retirees, SU executives, as well as current beat cops doing their share in the clean-up and planting process.

Parks & Restoration
Saturday, August 3rd, 2013We’re not sure if there’s a Forman Park Association, but today’s clean up, sponsored by the Syracuse and Central New York Police Retirees Association, would be a great start.
Forman Park, which is bounded on the north by the Crowne Plaza and Parkview Hotels, also contains the Policeman’s Memorial. Forman was re-dedicated last year with a formal ceremony. The park is one of the anchors of the Connective Corridor (phase two).
