Race & Reconciliation Forum, Syracuse University (circa 2007) featured Charles V. Willie, Ph.D., Rev. Michael Battle, Byron Rushing, Lyn Headley-Deavour,Bea Gonzalez, Rev. The forum marked the 110th anniversary the founding of St. Philip’s Church and 50th anniversary of its closing.
Last month, the Rev. Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows was elected 11th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis. Rev. Baskerville-Burrows is the first black, female diocesan bishop in the history of the Episcopal Church.

Plenty of socially conscious athletes have come through the Salt City (from Jim Brown and Oren Lyons to Melo), but one we often overlook is deserved MLB Hall of Famer Carlos Delgado, whose protest came that season he came to do a rehab stint with the Chiefs.
Cathy Hughes was given an honorary degree at Syracuse University in 2001. She appeared on Old School Sunday to talk about her career later that day (WPHR-FM).
Howard University (Washington, DC) will announce the naming of the “Cathy Hughes School of Communications” at an official ceremony on Sunday.

Let the countdown begin for the return of Syracuse Snarl (Fashion Show). Next week the freaks and creative designers will come out at night. This year’s theme is “fractured fairy tales.”
Dr. Joan Hillsman played Jazz in the City (Southside) with the Syracuse section of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. She is author of the text Gospel Music: An African-American Art Form.
