Marilyn Higgins was given an award today during the Near Westside Initiative's Multicultural Block Party today. She  was also serenaded for her birthday. She accepted a bouquet by a student during ceremony and was joined on stage by  Near Westside executives Robert Daino  (left) and Marteen Jacobs.

Chef Deanna said this was her first time occupying the space just outside the Overpass Fest. Despite the distance from the event, which was maybe 500 feet or more, we give her kudos for making a nearly flawless jalapeno lemonade (a little bit savory and little bit sweet). In our opinion, she was a few sample cups away from selling out and or having her concoction become the official summer beverage of the Creekwalk.
