Welcome to 2005: Choosing a candidate for office, finding the next big rock star, launching a new product, and how likely a couple is to separate, all can predicted using thin slivers of information from our adaptive unconscious, according to Malcolm Gladwell's newest book Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking . He cites scientific evidence and anecdotes from experts in fields such as military maneuvering, food critics and clinical psychologists. But this "thin-slicing" can also go very wrong, as these same principles are applied to the shooting of Amadou Diallo. This highly anticipated book is Gladwell's follow up to the critically-acclaimed Tipping Point. Blink will be published in January. Gladwell is a staff writer for the New Yorker and former science reporter at the Washington Post.
