Open-air Conga Room

NoExcuses Michael Heagerty led a Conga Line by the creek on Monday afternoon.

NoExcuses’ Michael Heagerty put on his dancing shoes and led a Conga Line by the creek on Monday afternoon.

Unusually warm, fall weather and the Columbus Day holiday provided a great mix for creating the longest Conga line to ever groove past Onondaga Creek (near the Inner Harbor) yesterday. This was the first of a series of pop-up events by the group PlayedOut Syracuse!

Cool Like That

The always dapper Michael Heagerty may be the most interesting man in the city (and has a personal style that is always dapper). We thank him for giving us the rules for last night's beard judging competition held at the Landmark Theater.

Musician/cultural attache'/tour guide Michael Heagerty may be the most interesting man in the city (kinda like a younger version of the Dos Equis guy). We appreciate his distinctly dapper personal style and thank him for taking time to explain to us the rules for last night's beard judging competition held at the Landmark Theater. Heagerty is pictured here talking about the virtues of someone's facial hair. He served as the emcee for the runway event as well.

Groove Collective, a roll call

Dino Losito on keys.

Dino Losito played keys for Joe Magnarelli and Nancy Kelly on Sunday.

Here’s a short list of musicians we saw in the audience during a few of the performances at the January Jazz Fest: JT Hall, John Dancks, George Feltman, John Spillett, Kirsten Tegtmeyer, Jeff Stockham, John Michael Heagerty (aka Tots), TK Howard, Tom Witkowski, Phil Flanagan, Dave Solazzo, Joe Carello and many more. Great to see musicians support each other at the Mohegan Manor, which we didn’t know was designed by Ward Wellington Ward.

And we can’t forget to give a shout out to graceful CNY dancers such as Mike Colabufo and Margaret Luttinger, who were also in attendance.

Linchpin

Linchpin (n.)–an individual who can walk into chaos and create order, someone who can invent, connect, create, and make things happen…

Here’s the first part of our conversation with local entrepreneur and artist Michael Heagerty.  Heagerty founded a non-traditional tour/hospitality business called NoExcuses(SYR).
