March 23-Musicology--Retired Syracuse educator Mary Virginia Willie Gauthier says spirituals and gospel music are not the same and are actually separate and unequal, She lectured at Syracuse University's Crouse College Setnor Auditorium during a workshop that focused on Negro spirituals in America. She was joined in the lecture and in performance of songs by Dr. Harlan London (seated rear).
