MARCH 21--Adam Hochschild, author of the internationally acclaimed book "Bury the Chains: Prophets and Rebels in the Fight to Free an Empire's Slaves" delivered a lecture "Twelve Men in a Printing Shop, London, May 22, 1787: A Great Human Rights Movement is Born" at Syracuse University's Hendricks Chapel last night. During his talk he profiled several Brits, including Thomas Clarkson, who struggled in the late 18th and early 19th centuries to abolish the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
