Dec. 1--(World AIDS Day 2006)--Joy Mutare, President, Project It Takes A Village, Inc., spoke about her organization and their goal to "save Zimbabwe, one child at a time." The press conference was held on the campus of Syracuse University. Ms. Mutare is also a PhD candidate at SU. The rate of AIDS cases in Zimbabwe dropped to just over 20% last year, but the disease continued to cause the death of 3,000 people per week. In Zimbabwe 1.4 million children have lost one or both parents to the AIDS virus. The theme for this year's World AIDS Day is "Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise"
