Making Hip Hop History

During it's first visit to a small to medium-sized city, the Hip Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) was integrated as part of a school curriculum for high school students. The Summit was a field trip for nearly 3000 of Syracuse's High School students.

HSAN founder Russell Simmons, along with co-founder Rev. Ben Chavis, and panelists Fabolous, Rev. Run, Raz B, formerly of B2K, and Doug E. Fresh, all traveled to Syracuse University's Carrier Dome for an educational program, which stressed youth empowerment during a three-hour question and answer session.

The event was organized by local activists including Akua Goodrich (pictured above) and Julius Edwards.

Previous Summit's this year were held in Houston and Los Angeles.
